Job Summary: We are a childcare center focusing on improving the lives of children and families with comprehensive support through accessible childcare and the love of Christ. Working with children involves extensive physical activity, mental alertness, and enthusiasm. Child care requires bending, stooping, and lifting as workers attend to each child’s interests and needs. This position requires a person who is able to plan and implement an instructional program that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students. This person must be able to effectively supervise other staff assisting in the classroom, be sensitive to the needs of individual children, and relate well to both children and adults.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and /or abilities required.
Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management for early childhood education
Knowledge of the diverse needs of children and their families
Strong background in curriculum, instruction, the Idaho Early Learning E-Guidelines, and child development
Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods
Strong background in the integration of technology with instruction and in creating and completing required reports
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
Work well with students, staff, and the public
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to remain calm and patient at all times with a compassionate demeanor
Skilled in active listening
Strong problem solving abilities
Ability to keep accurate data for progress monitoring
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Able to work under deadlines
Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
Preferred Qualifications:
Idaho Standard Instructional teaching certificate with All Subjects (K-8) Certificate or Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Blended Certificate (Birth-Grade 3) (Preferred)
Fluent in Spanish oral and written communication (Preferred)
1 year in a similar role strongly preferred;
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Overall
Supervise and monitor a safe play and learning environment for children;
Prepare lessons utilizing Learning Beyond Paper Curriculum;
Support children’s emotional and social development including positive self-concepts;
Communicate with children’s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues;
Teach children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits;
Maintain administrative records of children’s progress, routines, behaviors, and development;
Plan and supervise teacher aids and volunteers as assigned;
Early Childhood Education
Promote active learning using structured and unstructured activities that foster the social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development of young pupils;
Observe children in a variety of settings and evaluate the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills of pupils;
Maintain records of student progress toward the stated objectives of instruction;
Assist in facilitating smooth transitions from preschool, kindergarten, and early primary grades programs;
Professional Contacts and Activities
Attend and participate in faculty meetings;
Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise;
Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, curriculum, objectives, and methods;
Provide needed and requested information on a timely and effective basis;
Other
Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications;
Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession adopted by the Professional Standards Commission and the State Board of Education
Seek assistance should emergencies arise;
Represent the school district in a positive manner;
Know and follow school district policy and chain of command;

Physical Requirements:
Ability to move quickly to supervise and assist young children;
Lifting children, equipment, and supplies, up to 50 pounds in weight;
Frequent sitting (including on the floor), stepping, bending, twisting, and kneeling for
extended periods;
Possible exposure to bodily fluids. Frequent hand washing is a must;
Ability to visually and audibly respond to children in emergency situations.

This person must be able to effectively supervise other staff assisting in the classroom, be sensitive to the needs of individual children, and relate well to both children and adults.
List of Duties & Responsibilities:
● Supervise and monitor a safe play and learning environment for children;
● Prepare and monitor play and learning activities;
● Support children’s emotional and social development including positive self-concepts;
● Communicate with children’s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues;
● Teach children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits;

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● 1 year in a similar role strongly preferred;
● (preferred) High School Diploma or equivalent. Working towards a degree in Early
Education is strongly encouraged.

Substitute Responsibilities:
Provide part-time, as-needed support to daily operations when regular staff are unavailable.
